Myra's 4th Birthday

Myra is Iris' cousin, who resides in Doha since her parents (wifey's brother) moved to work with QP 7 years back. Myra, being one month older than Iris, comes back every summer and remained bestest of friends.

In August this year, we celebrate her 4th birthday.

Bake With Yen's cupcakes test

We were at Bake With Yen's new outlet in Kota Damansara which has an attached bakeria. They have few ranges of cupcakes and some cakes, what we figured as their commitment to their many recipes and supplies.

I picked 2 cupcakes (banana and chocolate) for a post-mortem at home, and to compare them against my chocolate cupcake.

While understanding that mass cupcakes at bakerias are simpler-designed, as opposed to our made-to-order cupcakes, my biggest feat that day was to understand the flavour, texture and presentation from Bake With Yen.

For their banana cupcake - the muffin is heavier, but still light, and the flavour of the banana is rich (like a banana butter cake) but not oily (which is good). It has some hints of blueberries inside (yumm), and the butter frosting was a good compliment - not too much (they do not cut level the top of muffins like we always do - we need to level for many deco works).

For their chocolate cupcake - the muffin is nothing chocolatey at all, but it's very light and fluffy, and the butter cream is sugary, thick and sweet. The fondant blue flower is another sweet flavour, albeit tasteless.

Our chocolate muffins apparently are very rich in chocolate (have to check production costs again?), and still much preferred for me (biased opinion?), but hey, hopefully our customers loved them too (called chocolate moist muffins).

These are some of the random generous orders we have received over the past months. Most of them were done in quite midnights alone after Iris has long gone to dreamland.

These were for Prof. Parid's birthday earlier this year where we were testing the use of butter papers instead of the souffles. Presentation-wise, quite good but looked artsy and sloppy?

Kak Zurai has been kind enough for this repeat orders, which consists of vanilla and moist chocolate cuppies for her daughter's office farewell party, and generous distribution to her neighbours. We have made the cuppies very light for her as requested, and the moist chocolates were very good, I can't stop eating them.

Had this order from wifey's office mate at RBC Dexia for her daughter's birthday. She originally ordered with Jim Jam's cartoon character but changed at the very last minute, which was a blessing as I have just ran the streets of KL today for 6 hours, and not in my sharpest concentration to doodle Jim and Jam dancing on the cupcakes...
